Can I use a box other than a shoebox?
Yes of course, as long as it is a similar size. Too small, and we can't get enough in them. Last year we got some very small gift boxes which would only take a pair of socks and a shower gel for example. We try and make all of our boxes to be similar quality, so these were no good. Similarly, boxes which are too big are difficult to fill, and also to stack

Can I fill a gift bag instead of a box?

We ask for boxes as they are easier to stack, both in our storage (see picture), and in our cars to deliver. But, if you can't get hold of a shoebox, if you fill a bag we will gladly accept it.

Because they become very wet and soggy after one use, and are not easy to carry around. Gift soaps in the female and female elderly boxes are very welcome.

We take extensive feedback at the end of appeals, and the overwhelming response from women is that although the provision of sanitary items is very necessary, they didn't want see them as luxury Christmas presents. If you want to donate, please do so to the Sheffield Period Appeal

Why do we have to wrap the lids separately?

Our charities will only accept the boxes if we can guarantee that they don't contain prohibited or inappropriate items. So, we have to open each one to check it. We also need to check that all of the boxes are of a similar standard and are as full as possible, so we use some of our spare items to enrich those that need it.

Simply because many other charities collect them, so we concentrate on adults, as everyone deserves a Christmas present

Yes, you get more in the box and it saves the recipient having to dispose of it as well.

No, sorry, these are Christmas presents, and so we want everything to be brand new. We also can't accept opened toiletries.
